Job summary

New Directions Education seeks dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs in Cardiff schools. You will work with teachers to deliver differentiated activities and help students reach educational, social, and emotional goals in an inclusive setting. Experience with ALN, ASC, ADHD or SEMH is desirable.

A patient, adaptable approach and strong communication are essential. DBS via Update Service is preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

Experience working with children or young people with ALN is desirable.
Enhanced DBS certificate on Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Understanding safeguarding responsibilities within an educational setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with ALN.
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
Support pupils in developing communication, social, emotional and behavioural skills.
Create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Encourage pupil independence, confidence and participation in classroom activities.
Implement IDPs and behaviour support strategies where required.
Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to teaching staff.
Support pupils during breaktimes, educational visits and other school activities.
Maintain safeguarding and welfare standards.
