Job summary

Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are recruiting for an Alloys Materials Sortation Operative to join our production team. The role suits someone with a solid background in scrap metal, recycling or revert materials, and a keen eye for alloy classification.

You will inspect, identify and grade metals using handheld XRF and visual assessments, sort by alloy grade, and ensure traceability and compliance with customer specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience identifying, sorting, or grading metallic materials.
• Solid knowledge of nickel-based alloys, stainless steels, titanium, cobalt alloys, or other high-performance metals.
• Experience using handheld XRF analysers.
• Strong attention to detail in highly regulated industries.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and classify incoming metal and revert materials using visual assessment techniques and handheld XRF.
• Sort materials according to alloy grade, composition, quality standards, and customer requirements.
• Detect and isolate contaminated materials and foreign substances.
• Maintain segregation procedures to ensure material traceability and prevent cross-contamination.
• Record inspection findings and grading outcomes using company systems.
• Liaise with production personnel to ensure material flows efficiently through the operation.
• Support quality control initiatives and uphold high industry standards on site.
• Report to the Production Manager on material quality and operational issues.
