Job description

The Head of Service is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the strategic and operational oversight of a diverse portfolio of mental health services. These services are delivered in partnership with NHS and VCSE organisations as part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership, requiring a high level of collaboration, matrix management, and shared leadership. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring high-quality, person-centred care and support, while meeting contractual, regulatory, and financial requirements. A key focus of the role is to embed and strengthen new contracts, including the development of robust reporting systems, quality assurance frameworks, and co-production approaches using the STAR (shaping, Teaching and Responding) methodology. This is a pivotal role in shaping the future of Mental Health provision across Wiltshire. The Head of Service will work closely with commissioners, NHS partners, and voluntary sector providers to maintain strong relationships, respond to emerging needs, and identify opportunities for service development and innovation. They will also play a key role in identifying and securing new business opportunities to grow the department and extend its impact.

  • Hours – 37.5 hours per week (full time), Monday – Friday
  • Hourly rate – £23.86 rising to £25.76 after probation
  • Annual salary – £46,527.00 rising to £50,232.00 after probation
