Job Description
  • The Unix System Administrator will be responsible for managing, configuring, and automating Unix operating system environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • This role involves working with AIX, PowerVM, and automation tools to streamline system processes and proactively resolve issues.
Responsibilities
  • Perform regular system administration activities across Unix environments.
  • Automate software lifecycle management for operating system components, support software, and configuration management.
  • Identify and eliminate operational toil in Unix systems.
  • Apply analytics on past incident and performance data to predict and prevent issues.
  • Manage operating system and clustering component configurations.
  • Administer AIX LVM, LPAR profiles, PowerVM, NIM, and HMC configurations.
  • Oversee user and group administration, firmware upgrades, and SSH/SFTP configurations.
  • Manage AIX and VIOS network components, including Ethernet, VLANs, TCP/IP, and vSwitches.
  • Handle NFS client/server administration, SUDO configuration, and LDAP client setup.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while working independently on technical initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in Unix operating system technologies.
  • Expert knowledge of AIX LVM, LPAR, PowerVM, and NIM administration.
