A leading architectural studio is seeking an experienced Airport Planner to join their team in Central London. In this role, you will lead planning studies and support major aviation projects, focusing on airport functionality and design. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in aviation planning, strong knowledge of IATA standards, and excellent communication skills. Overview

Airport Planner – Location: Clerkenwell, Central London. Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum (Dependent Upon Experience).

As the studio expands its global aviation portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Airport Planner to join their renowned aviation and masterplanning team.

You will play a key role in shaping complex airport environments, supporting major international aviation clients across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. This is a hands‑on, design‑aligned planning position suited to someone with a deep understanding of airport functionality, passenger movement, terminal configuration, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support aviation masterplanning and terminal planning studies
  • Prepare and review layouts in line with IATA standards and functional planning principles
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, early-stage concept planning and design coordination
  • Present planning strategies and design outcomes to clients, stakeholders and project partners
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams internally and externally
  • Support both greenfield airport developments and complex expansion of existing terminals
  • Manage planning deliverables, programme timelines, and coordination across teams
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in airport or aviation planning
  • Strong understanding of IATA standards, capacity modelling and terminal functionality
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and support planning teams effectively
  • Degree Qualified in Aviation Planning, Architecture, or a related discipline
  • Confident communicator with strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency in planning software; AutoCAD and Revit advantageous but not essential
  • Passion for innovative, research-driven, design-aligned planning at an international scale
Location & Benefits

Location: Clerkenwell, London. Office: Flexi working (40 hours per week), 8:30 am – 6:30 pm.
