Job summary

AECOM is seeking an engineer for Airport Planning & Advisory in Basingstoke and London to design sustainable airport solutions across the UK and Europe.

You will work on runways, terminals, and airside facilities, producing drawings, reports, and simulations, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and attending client meetings. AECOM supports hybrid working and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Air Transport Management or Airport Planning.
  • Solution-oriented mindset, unafraid to challenge the status quo and propose innovative ideas.
  • Proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
  • Experience in airport master planning, terminal or airside spatial planning, capacity analysis or terminal facilities planning.
  • Knowledge of Civil Aviation regulatory and industry standards (ICAO, EASA, CAA, FAA, IATA).
  • Knowledge of airfield and terminal facility simulation and modelling.

Responsibilities

  • Design airport engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, vehicle service roads, aeronautical ground lighting and signage, navigational aids, drainage improvements, utility relocation, protection, and pavement rehabilitation.
  • Produce drawings, reports, calculations, simulations and presentations.
  • Investigate: undertake site asset condition inspections, report findings to enable capital project planning.
  • Organise: take ownership and demonstrate responsibility for delivery of tasks, aligning with programme and budgets.
  • Collaborate: work with multidisciplinary design teams and attend client meetings to discuss designs.
  • Assure: perform self‑checking of deliverables, participate in design review processes and uphold AECOM Quality Assurance procedures.
