Job summary

London Gatwick is seeking a Control Centre engineer to support safe, efficient airport operations on a permanent contract. You will oversee on-site response to maintenance and emergencies, deputising for the Engineering Operations Manager when needed.

Your role includes coordinating permits, leading shift teams, and ensuring the reliable operation of critical systems across the airport environment.

Qualifications

Experience with health and safety standards for airport facilities.
Inspiring leadership in a fast-paced operational environment.
Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and regulatory compliance.
Broad engineering knowledge related to airport operations.
Understanding of budgets and financial frameworks.
Strong engineering discipline background.

Responsibilities

Control engineer for the GAL/UKPNS (up to 33kV) electrical distribution network for Gatwick.
Coordinates permits and work requests while on shift in line with policy and regulation.
Maintains availability of engineering services and coordinates technicians on shift to support a stable operation.
Works with emergency services to provide engineering advice during outages or emergencies.
Manages safe systems of work and contractor management systems.
Shares knowledge and coaches other team members to drive improvements in performance.
Operates fire alarms, BMS, HVAC and pump station faults and works to prevent pollution.
Produces duty reports to maintain an accurate operational picture for stakeholders.
Coordinates fault-line operation to ensure effective response by engineering teams.
