Job summary

WSP in the UK is seeking an experienced Airfield Civil Engineer to join as Design Manager, leading multi-disciplinary design teams on UK and international aviation projects. You will shape the technical direction, manage client expectations, and contribute to project governance.

The role emphasises resilience, sustainability and smart technologies, with a focus on delivering on time and within budget while mentoring colleagues in a collaborative environment. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• University degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
• Experience on large multi-disciplinary airfield civil projects.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and project delivery processes.
• Chartered status preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership for successful delivery of airfield civil projects.
• Coordinate design teams and communicate with all parties.
• Identify and manage design risks.
• Plan and monitor project performance throughout the lifecycle.
• Ensure deliverables meet cost/quality/time targets.
• Provide a Check/Review role to meet quality management requirements.
• Mentor staff within the Airfield Engineering team.
• Champion health and safety practices and CDM compliance.
