Job summary

First People Solutions Limited seeks a skilled TIG Welder for an aircraft maintenance role at Prestwick International Airport. The successful candidate will weld aircraft components, read engineering drawings and work to approved procedures within a specialist aerospace environment.

Experience with aluminium, Inconel or titanium is highly desirable, along with the ability to interpret drawings and complete accurate maintenance documentation.

Qualifications

  • Practical TIG welding experience or strong college-level TIG welding training.
  • Experience with aluminium, Inconel or titanium desirable.
  • Knowledge of sheet-metal work / tinsmith practices advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
  • Aircraft or aerospace experience desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with component inspection or work packs advantageous.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Willingness to hold or pursue UKCAA welding licenses or AW17.1 approvals.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out TIG welding on aircraft components using aluminium, stainless steel, Inconel and titanium.
  • Maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship.
  • Work from engineering drawings, technical information and approved procedures.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and associated work packs accurately.
  • Assist with the organisation, assessment and evaluation of repairs.
  • Support the ordering and tracking of materials and spare parts.
  • Assist with component inspection where required.
  • Work in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements and health & safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with experienced engineers and contribute to the development of technical skills within the team.

Job description

First People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Skilled Welder to join our client's aircraft maintenance operation at Prestwick International Airport in a contracted role.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced TIG Welder to develop their career within the aviation and aerospace sector.

The successful candidate will work within a specialist aircraft maintenance environment, carrying out welding and component repair activities alongside experienced aviation engineers and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out TIG welding on aircraft components using aluminium, stainless steel, Inconel and titanium.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:

  • Practical TIG welding experience or strong college-level TIG welding training.
  • Experience working with aluminium, Inconel or titanium is highly desirable.

  • Previous aircraft or aerospace experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience with component inspection or work packs would be advantageous.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Would be advantageous if candidate's currently holds or previously held a UKCAA welding license (BCAR A8-10) or AW17.1 or hold welding approvals.
Candidates must have, or be willing to work towards:
  • Company Component Release Stamp (CRS) approval
  • CAA Welder Approval
