Job description

Big ideas. Real-world impact. Global opportunity.

At SYOS Aerospace, we’re not here to do things the way they’ve always been done. We’re building the next generation of autonomous systems across air, land, and sea — turning ambitious ideas into technology that works in the real world. From cutting‑edge research, design, and advanced engineering in New Zealand to manufacturing scale‑up and global manufacturing delivery in the UK, our teams are turning innovative concepts into operational products used by customers around the world.

This is an opportunity to join a company at a pivotal stage of growth — where the work you do today can open doors across our global teams, projects, and future opportunities. As we continue to grow globally, we're committed to creating career pathways across our teams, projects, and locations.

The SYOS way

We’re growing fast, taking on bigger challenges, and building technology that matters.

At SYOS, you won’t be sitting on the sidelines. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute, challenge ideas, solve problems, and see your work make a real impact.

About The Role

As an Aircraft Technician, you’ll play a hands‑on role in building and integrating the next generation of autonomous aircraft. Working within our UK production team, you’ll help transform engineering designs into high‑quality, production‑ready aircraft by carrying out structural assembly, mechanical and electrical integration, aircraft configuration, and testing.

We’re Recruiting For Several Aircraft Technician Positions Across Our Growing Production Team, With Opportunities To Specialise In One Of The Following Areas

  • Fuselage Assembly Technician
  • Fuselage Skin / Tube Technician
  • Integration Technician
  • Configuration Technician
  • 3D Printing
Responsibilities
  • Aircraft assembly: Assemble fuselage structures, frames, bulkheads, brackets and sub‑assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and approved work instructions.
  • Fabrication and fitting: Prepare, cut, drill, form and fit aircraft skins, panels and tube assemblies, ensuring dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Mechanical and electrical integration: Install and integrate mechanical, electrical, avionics, propulsion, fuel and control‑system components.
  • Aircraft configuration: Verify component part numbers, revisions and installation requirements, maintaining accurate configuration records and parts traceability.
  • Additive manufacturing: Set up and operate 3D‑printing equipment, prepare approved build files, monitor print quality and complete post‑processing and inspections.
  • Testing and inspection: Support functional testing, dimensional inspections, fault diagnosis and quality checks throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Quality and documentation: Complete build, inspection and test records accurately, follow Quality Management System procedures, and **escalate** technical or quality issues promptly.
  • Continuous improvement: Contribute to Lean manufacturing initiatives, identify opportunities to reduce waste, and help improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Team collaboration: Work closely with production leaders, engineers and quality teams to meet manufacturing schedules and deliver high‑quality aircraft.
What You’ll Bring
  • A Level 3 electrical or mechanical apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands‑on experience in aircraft structural, mechanical or electromechanical assembly, integration, testing or manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a controlled production environment, ideally within aerospace, marine, automotive or another regulated industry.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, tolerances and manufacturing instructions.
  • Practical knowledge of assembly techniques, including drilling, reaming, countersinking, deburring, sealing, fastening and torque control.
  • Experience using hand tools, measuring equipment and calibrated tooling.
  • An understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, component installation and equipment integration.
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS), with an understanding of inspection processes and documented procedures.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to maintain clear build, inspection and test documentation.
Desirable
  • Experience assembling aircraft fuselage structures, frames, bulkheads, brackets, skins, panels or tube assemblies.
  • Experience installing or integrating avionics, propulsion, fuel, electrical or control‑system components.
  • Familiarity with aircraft configuration management, revision control, software or firmware configuration, and authorised engineering changes.
  • Experience operating 3D printers, preparing digital build files, using slicing software, and completing post‑processing and component inspections.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience working within a formal Quality Management System.
  • Familiarity with aircraft testing, diagnostic equipment, functional testing and fault investigation.
  • Experience applying Lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen and waste reduction.
