Job description

Aircraft Line Maintenance Mechanic - Brize Norton

Location: Brize Norton, Oxfordshire

Shift Pattern: Days and nights (5 on, 4 off, 5 on; 6am-6pm, then 6pm-6am)

Hours: Average 42 hours per week

Pay: £27.00 per hour (Umbrella) / £20.18 per hour (PAYE) + 13.88% shift uplift

Contract: Until December 2026, with likely extension

Security Clearance: SC clearance and British nationals ONLY

IR35 Status: Off-payroll working rules (IR35) apply

About the Role

Join a military aviation team at Brize Norton as a Line Maintenance Mechanic, supporting the operational readiness of a key military aircraft. You'll perform safe maintenance, inspections, and routine work in the flightline environment, ensuring all work is completed on time and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out line maintenance activities, routine/scheduled maintenance, and fault rectification under supervision
  • Complete allocated tasks to maintain on-time performance, including defect rectification and planned maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with company technical and administrative procedures, including Environmental Health and Safety Policy
  • Perform daily and weekly vehicle checks, restock consumables, adhere to tool control, and report damaged equipment
  • Support ongoing Team Atlas improvement initiatives and provide occasional workshop support
  • Undertake required continuation training and maintain approval
  • Maintain good communication and customer focus, both internally and externally
About You
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship and minimum 3 years' experience in operational aircraft maintenance and/or EASA Cat 'A' Licence
  • Experience maintaining commercial or military transport aircraft (line and base maintenance desirable)
  • Familiarity with aircraft technical manuals and instructions
  • Strong technical and engineering background within the aviation industry
  • Must be comfortable working at height; training provided for operating mobile working platforms
