Overview

Job Title: Aircraft Fitter/Mechanic

Department: Production Part 145

Location: AAG Defence Services

Description

AAG Defence Services is a MAA Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) based in RAF Brize Norton, UK, in partnership with Airbus Aerospace & Defence. We supply dedicated MRO services, including heavy and line maintenance, to the Royal Air Force’s fleet of A400M Atlas aircraft. The team is based at RAF Brize Norton in a dedicated 24,000m² facility designed to optimise aircraft maintenance. AAG Defence Services is a subsidiary of Atlantic Aviation Group.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the aircraft and safe use of ground equipment
  • Accurately navigate and interpret aircraft maintenance documentation
  • Carry out aircraft modifications and light structural work if required
  • Comply with the organisational policies and procedures detailed in the Atlantic Aviation Group Defence Services (AAG DS) MOE and supporting manuals
  • Identify and rectify existing and potential unsafe conditions
  • Maintain the work environment in a clean and safe manner using a “clean as you go” approach
  • Comply with company Safety Management System (SMS) occurrence reporting procedures
  • Comply with the AAG DS safety policy
  • Complete aircraft paperwork to a high standard
  • Be aware of COSHH, Working at height and Manual handling safety requirements
  • Actively embrace a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture
Candidate Requirements
  • Must currently have eligibility to live and work in the UK; sponsorship cannot be offered
  • Must hold a valid aircraft standards-based qualification (Apprenticeship/NVQ level 3) or aircraft related academic qualification/traineeship with a minimum 3 years experience or be able to satisfy AAG DS Training / Maintenance management team
  • Current Human factors initial and refresher, EWIS and SFAR 88 certificates
  • Knowledge of aeronautical regulations
  • Right to live and work in the United Kingdom
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to successfully complete MOD security clearance
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience on A400M, Airbus, Propeller or Wide body Aircraft
  • Previous exposure to AirN@v and Amos
  • Knowledge of Military Aviation Authority (MAA) MRP Part 145 regulations
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Capability to work on own initiative and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Proficient organisational skills and ability to work efficiently
  • IPAF/MEWP familiarisation
Typical Working Conditions
  • Primarily based in Brize Norton; travel may be required
  • Shift will be 5, 5, 4-day cycle from 07:00 to 19:00
  • PPE provided by AAG DS and its use is mandatory
