Sanborn, Head & Associates, Inc. is seeking an air services professional to join our Solid Waste team as a Project Manager. The role includes air permitting and dispersion modeling, estimating emissions, and assessing air permit compliance for clients in the solid waste industry, with additional work in industrial and energy facilities. The Project Manager will develop and secure project work to grow the firm’s solid waste presence in the region and manage a team of engineers and scientists. This leadership position contributes to the firm’s growth and can lead to firm ownership for the right individual. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position with opportunities to be challenged, contribute to project outcomes, interact with project Principals, and grow professionally.

  • Oversees the preparation of air compliance reports, GHG reports, emissions tables, construction (NSR) and Title V / PSD air permit applications including dispersion modeling, and interpret air regulations.
  • Oversees multiple small and mid-size projects, or phases of large projects, and prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Demonstrates competency in planning and managing a project, with guidance from senior employees for more complex situations.
  • Demonstrates full competency in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of assignments. May request support from Sanborn Head technical experts for more complex technical areas.
  • Analyzes and interprets data; formulates and solves problems.
  • Directs preparation and assumes responsibility for completing project documents for small and mid-size projects, or for phases of large projects, including design plans and/or reports.
  • Prepares invoices for small and medium size projects, or phases of larger projects in a manner that limits work-in-progress, and proactively follows up with clients to achieve timely payment.
  • Estimates project staffing needs and schedule and assigns work to meet completion due date.
  • Delivers exceptional work quality that exceeds internal and/or external client expectations regarding time, speed, and accuracy.
  • Directs projects both financially and technically.
  • Manages staff engineers and scientists.
  • Sets technical strategy and oversees production of technical work products.
  • Coordinates with project team members and clients.
  • Interprets and analyzes field and laboratory data.
  • Responsibilities include developing business opportunities and securing project work to grow the firm’s solid waste presence in the region.
  • Competencies – What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience with a 4-year BS degree (MS desired). Possess or work toward Professional Licensure is a plus.
  • Additional consideration for candidates with Air Permitting & Compliance experience (Local, State, NSR, Title V, and/or PSD) in the solid waste, industrial, and energy sectors.
  • Familiarity with State and Federal Regulations related to the Solid Waste Industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with flexibility to handle shifting priorities.
  • Strong quantitative and observational skills.
  • Solid attention to detail and technical understanding.
  • Client-service orientation with the ability to anticipate needs and deliver to meet expectations.

Pay
  • The expected base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $120,000 per year. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by various factors including relevant experience, education, training, qualifications, and work location.

Physical Requirements
  • Work is mainly performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Must be able to visit project sites and use heavy field equipment, power tools, and ladders as required.
  • Requires long periods of sitting, walking, and, at times, bending and prolonged standing.
  • Substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Work requires both indoor and outdoor activity in temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold or hot and other weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment as required.
  • Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen, and extensive reading.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry parcels, packages, and other items up to 50 pounds.
