This is a leadership position within the Solid Waste team, focusing on air permitting, dispersion modeling, emissions estimation, and air permit compliance for clients in the solid waste industry as well as some industrial and energy facilities. The role includes developing and securing project work to grow the firm’s solid waste presence and managing a team of engineers and scientists to support project execution. The position offers opportunities for growth within the firm, including potential ownership for the right candidate. It is fast-paced and dynamic, with opportunities to contribute to project outcomes, interact with project Principals, and grow professionally.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of air compliance reports, GHG reports, emissions tables, and air permit applications (construction NSR, Title V, PSD) including dispersion modeling and interpretation of air regulations.
- Oversee multiple small to mid-size projects, or phases of larger projects; prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Demonstrate project planning and management skills, with guidance from senior staff for more complex situations.
- Demonstrate competency in all conventional aspects of the subject matter; may request support from Sanborn Head technical experts for complex technical areas.
- Analyze and interpret data; formulate and solve problems.
- Direct preparation and completion of project documents for small to mid-size projects or phases of large projects, including design plans and/or reports.
- Prepare invoices for small to mid-size projects or phases of larger projects; manage work-in-progress and follow up with clients to ensure timely payment.
- Estimate staffing needs and schedule work to meet due dates.
- Deliver exceptional work quality that exceeds expectations regarding time, speed, and accuracy.
- Direct projects both financially and technically; manage staff engineers and scientists; set technical strategy and oversee production of technical work products.
- Coordinate with project team members and clients; interpret and analyze field and laboratory data.
Competencies
- Minimum of 8 years relevant experience with a 4-year BS degree (MS desired). Professional licensure is a plus.
- Experience in Air Permitting & Compliance (Local, State, NSR, Title V, PSD) in solid waste, industrial, and energy sectors is a plus.
- Familiarity with State and Federal Regulations related to the Solid Waste Industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Strong quantitative and observational skills; high attention to detail and technical understanding.
- Client-service orientation with the ability to anticipate needs and meet expectations; excellent verbal and written communication; collaborative team player.
Location and Work Arrangement
- The candidate will report to an office in Boston, MA; Bedford, NH; Burlington, VT; Horsham, PA; or Denver, CO.
- Hybrid options for the right candidate.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: The expected base salary range for this position is $103,000 – $120,000 per year. Final offers depend on experience, education, qualifications, and location.
- Supplemental Pay: Annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Physical Requirements
- Office work with ability to operate standard office equipment; must be able to visit project sites and use field equipment, power tools, and ladders as required.
- Requires long periods of sitting, walking, bending, and prolonged standing; repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Indoor and outdoor work in temperatures ranging from cold to hot; must wear and work in required personal protective equipment.
- Close visual acuity for data preparation, computer use, and reading; lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
