Job summary

WSP is seeking a Field-based Analyst Consultant to ensure air quality monitoring equipment across the UK provides accurate results. You will calibrate on-site, record data and process it to meet UK and EU directives.

You will review measurements with our in-house software and participate in frequent travel, including weeks away from the office and several overnight stays per week, to support clients across Scotland and the wider UK.

Qualifications

• Degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering is an advantage, but not essential; relevant experience considered.
• Significant travel with weeks away from office and multiple overnight stays per week.
• Full, clean UK driving licence required with capable driving experience.
• Awareness of site safety issues.
• Ability to research, gather and analyse data accurately and methodically.
• IT literacy and strong data handling skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and team working abilities.

Responsibilities

• Test, calibrate and document air quality measuring instrumentation across the UK.
• Process and report data with strict quality requirements.
• Review and ratify air pollution measurements using in-house software and prescribed methods.
• Produce data for publication on Defra UK Air Quality and Scotland sites.

As a field-based Analyst Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring that the monitoring equipment for air pollutants across the UK is providing the correct results and giving reliable measurements of air quality for our customers. This involves the on-site testing and calibration of equipment and subsequent data recording and processing, conducted to strict quality requirements

You will also be required to review and ratify air pollution measurements using our in-house software systems and strict methods prescribed by UK Law and European Directives. It would be an advantage to have an initial understanding of current air pollution problems and legislation aimed to address these issues, although comprehensive training is provided.

A Little More About Your Role...

The work will require significant travel, including several weeks per quarter of extended trips away from the office and up to 4 overnight stays per week.

The role will include testing, calibration and documentation of air quality measuring instrumentation across Scotland and wider UK, Data processing and reporting, and ratification of data for publication on the Defra UK Air Quality website https://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/ and the Air Quality in Scotland website https://www.scottishairquality.scot/

What We'd Like You To Demonstrate...

• A degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering is an advantage, but not essential; candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience will also be considered.
• There will be some physical requirements to this role: either through travel or lifting and unloading of equipment in order to be able to load and unload monitoring and testing equipment.
• Full, clean UK driving licence with solid driving experience - able to drive a company van.
• Awareness of site safety issues.
