Arup is a global leader in design, planning, engineering, and consulting. Our UK air quality team invites a recent graduate to join and grow in environmental consultancy, based in one of our offices across the UK, including Sheffield.

You will work on diverse projects in energy, aviation, infrastructure and advisory, undertaking air quality assessments, informing design, fulfilling regulatory requirements and supporting planning applications with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant subject.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of air quality and environmental matters.
  • Strong problem-solving initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and a team player.
  • Strong organisational skills and able to work to deadlines.
  • Experience in delivering air quality assessments and dispersion modelling software (ADMS, AERMOD).
  • Proficient in GIS.
  • Experience with PowerBI, OpenAir and Python for data interpretation and visualization.
  • IAQM or IES membership is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Work on diverse projects across energy, aviation, infrastructure and advisory.

  • Attend site visits as required.

Due to ever an increasing pipeline of work, we are looking for a recent graduate to start or further their career in environmental consultancy and join our UK air quality team. The successful candidate can be based in one of our offices where we already have a wider air quality team presence, namely: Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, York, Sheffield, Birmingham or London.

Role

You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects among different sectors including energy, aviation, infrastructure and advisory. On a daily basis, you will work alongside our experienced consultants and undertake air quality assessments, from informing design to fulfilling regulatory requirements and accompanying planning applications. You will provide a key role supporting and assisting with all aspects in project delivery, as well as communicating and liaising with clients (internal and external) regularly. Subject to project requirements, attendance at site visits is also to be expected.

Essential qualifications and experience
  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant subject
  • Strong interest and knowledge of air quality and environmental matters

  • Strong organisational skills and able to work to deadlines.

Member of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM) or Institution of Environmental Science (IES)
