Key Responsibilities
Import Operations
  • Handle all aspects of air import shipments from arrival through to final delivery.
  • Liaise with airlines, handling agents, and customs to ensure timely clearance and delivery.
  • Prepare and process import documentation, including airway bills, invoices, and customs entries (CHIEF/CDS).
  • Track and trace shipments, updating customers and internal systems accordingly.
  • Coordinate deliveries and arrange transport with third‑party hauliers where required.
Export Operations
  • Handle export air freight shipments from booking through to final uplift.
  • Prepare and issue export documentation, including airway bills, commercial invoices, packing lists, and export declarations (using CDS).
  • Liaise with airlines, ground handlers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with IATA, HMRC, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provide accurate costings and quotations to customers when needed.
General
  • Maintain accurate records in the freight management system.
  • Ensure all billing and job costing is completed promptly and accurately.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong communication with clients, agents, and suppliers.
  • Work closely with internal departments (Road, Sea, Customs, Accounts, etc.) to ensure seamless end‑to‑end service.
  • Assist with KPI reporting and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in air freight forwarding (import/export operations).
  • Strong understanding of air freight procedures, customs documentation, and CDS/CHIEF systems.
  • Familiarity with IATA regulations and Dangerous Goods handling (DG certificate desirable).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in MS Office and freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, ASM Sequoia, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Qualifications
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) required; A-Levels or further education preferred.
  • IATA / CILT / BIFA training advantageous.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
