Job summary

xpd global in Birmingham, UK is hiring an Operations Executive – Air Freight to join our fast-growing, international freight forwarding team near Birmingham Airport. This hands-on role places you at the heart of air freight operations, coordinating shipments, building carrier relationships, and delivering world-class service.

You will manage quotations, rate negotiations, and ensure accurate documentation while supporting desk growth and client satisfaction in a dynamic, globally connected

Qualifications

• Experience in air freight operations or a similar role within freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of air cargo documentation and international shipping regulations.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
• A team player with a client-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain air freight quotations and manage rate negotiations with carriers
• Coordinate day-to-day air operations with airlines, handling agents, and customs brokers
• Proactively monitor shipments and keep clients informed at every stage
• Issue accurate and compliant air cargo documentation (AWB, customs declarations, certificates of origin)
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and elevate the client experience
• Support the growth of the air freight desk as the operation scales
