Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Air Conditioning Engineer to join our facilities team, providing expert maintenance, repair, and installation of air conditioning and refrigeration systems across our client sites.

Job Description

You will be responsible for delivering both planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive works to the highest standards, ensuring customer satisfaction, system efficiency, and full compliance with health and safety procedures.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

You'll be part of a professional maintenance team supporting a range of HVAC and building services equipment within commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out PPM, reactive, and proactive maintenance on all air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Inspect, repair, and install a variety of systems including compressors, chillers, retail refrigeration units, and system controls.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections and perform necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair faults, replacing or refurbishing components such as thermostats, compressors, fans, controls, valves, filters, and bearings.
  • Undertake minor installation, rebuild, or modification works on HVAC systems.
  • Support maintenance of other building services equipment, including mechanical, HVAC, and fabric-related tasks.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Maintain accurate service and inspection records, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
  • Significant experience in air conditioning, refrigeration, or HVAC maintenance, including fault finding and installation.
  • Proven background in reactive and planned preventive maintenance within commercial environments.
  • Strong understanding of building services and facilities management operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely and responsibly within strict H&S procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Customer-focused with strong communication and time management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (required for this role).
Qualifications
  • City & Guilds 2079 Safe Handling of Refrigerants (or CITB J11 equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in one of the following disciplines:
    • Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems
    • Heating and Ventilation
    • Heating and Ventilation Service & Maintenance
    • IPAF and/or PASMA certification (desirable).
