ALTEN, located in Gloucester, is seeking an experienced AI Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will design, develop and deploy AI-driven solutions from concept through production, collaborating with multidisciplinary and international teams.

The role emphasizes Python-based software development, best engineering practices, and close collaboration with stakeholders to deliver robust AI applications on cutting-edge projects across industries.

• Minimum 3 years' experience in AI, machine learning, or software engineering roles.
• Proven experience designing, prototyping, and delivering AI solutions.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including code quality, testing, and version control.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
• Strong collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AI Software Engineer to join a growing engineering and technology team in Gloucester. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative AI-driven solutions, taking ideas from concept through to deployment while collaborating with multidisciplinary and international teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement AI-based solutions to address complex business and engineering challenges
• Create prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and production-ready AI applications
• Develop and maintain Python-based software solutions following engineering best practices
• Support the deployment, optimisation, and continuous improvement of AI systems

Qualifications

• Exposure to MLOps, cloud platforms, or AI deployment pipelines
• Experience working with international or globally distributed teams
• Knowledge of software deployment and operational support practices
