Job summary

Mistral AI seeks AI Scientists to push the frontier of AI-accelerated simulation within the AI4Engineering Science group. You will research foundational physics models and train them for downstream applications accessed by customers and internal teams.

You'll curate high-fidelity simulation data, design novel model architectures, and evaluate them against engineering validation standards, building a backbone for multiple downstream products.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in CS/AI or eng science
• Strong, hands-on ML expertise with model architectures, training dynamics, and evaluation
• Experience developing ML methods for simulation or surrogate modelling
• Proficient Python code and Linux/HPC environments
• Fluent English with clear communication
• Self-directed, you don’t need detailed roadmaps
• Low-ego, collaborative, eager to learn at the intersection of simulation and ML
• Demonstrated success through industrial projects, academic work, or personal projects

Responsibilities

• Research and train novel foundation models for physics simulation, pushing past today’s state of the art in accuracy, generalization, and scale
• Design and run large-scale simulation campaigns using domain-specific solvers to build the high-fidelity datasets foundational physics models need
• Investigate architectures and training strategies that let a single foundation model transfer and fine-tune well across diverse engineering tasks
• Rigorously evaluate model coverage, accuracy, and robustness against industry validation standards
• Stay on top of the latest developments in the scientific community and contribute to Mistral's standing at the frontier of AI-for-engineering research
