Job summary

Modern Democracy is seeking a Software Engineer to join our engineering team in the UK. You will build software using AI agents, contribute to code reviews, and take ownership of features end-to-end.

The role reports to the Head of Engineering and collaborates with operations and sales to understand what we are building and why. You’ll ship features end-to-end with AI agents, own components, and participate in architectural discussions while improving testing, observability, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Solid fundamentals across frontend and backend API design and database work.
• Ability to work independently, define done, and deliver with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable in a small startup environment and eager to learn AI-first tooling.

Responsibilities

• Ship features end-to-end using AI agents from design to production.
• Own components and projects with minimal direction.
• Contribute to code reviews and architectural discussions.
• Maintain testing, observability, and CI/CD practices.
• Grow into more senior responsibilities as the team expands.
