Job summary

Currys London Campus at Waterloo is hiring a full-time AI/ML engineer to design and deliver real-world AI solutions across stores, supply chain and contact centres. You’ll work with product managers to translate business needs into practical AI features, from prototyping to production, applying modern LLM and agent frameworks with a focus on reliability and security.

You’ll join a collaborative engineering community that values curiosity, continuous learning and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Strong engineering foundations with real experience delivering working solutions in a team.
  • Proficiency in Python and writing maintainable code.
  • Experience with APIs, services, version control and testing.
  • Evidence of AI work through personal projects or starter roles.
  • Understanding of ML concepts like prompting, embeddings and model behavior.
  • Curiosity and problem-solving to learn quickly in applied AI.
  • Ability to collaborate in an agile environment with product teams.
  • Exposure to Databricks, Azure AI services or similar cloud AI platforms beneficial.
  • Experience with agent frameworks or orchestration tools beneficial.
  • Knowledge of data platforms like SQL or Spark and AI integration beneficial.
  • Engineering experience in software, data or ML with real-world delivery.
  • Proficiency in Python and production-quality code.
  • Familiarity with APIs, services and modern dev practices like version control and testing.
  • Early evidence of AI/LLM work via personal projects or starter tools.
  • Degree in CS, Engineering, AI/ML, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build AI solutions and agents that improve productivity and decision-making across the business
  • Create and iterate on prototypes using modern LLM and agent frameworks
  • Help take AI features into production, working with senior engineers to meet reliability and security needs
  • Contribute to data preparation and feature engineering for AI use cases
  • Write clean, well-tested code that follows Currys engineering standards
  • Monitor AI solutions in production, tracking quality, performance and cost
  • Troubleshoot issues and improve implementations based on feedback and metrics
  • Document your work clearly so solutions can be supported and scaled by the wider team
  • Learn continuously and bring new ideas, tools and techniques to the team

You’ll partner with product managers to understand business needs and deliver practical Al solutions that work inthe real world. Your work will span multiple business areas - from colleagues in stores and contact centres to teamsin trading, supply chain and operations. You’ll join a community of engineers who share ideas, raise standards andsupport each other, helping you move from prototype to production with confidence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build Al solutions and agents that improve productivity and decision-making across the business

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong engineering foundations with real experience delivering working solutions in a team
  • Comfortable with Python and the ability to write code that others can understand and maintain
  • Practical knowledge of APIs, services and development practices like version control, code reviews and testing
  • Evidence you've already started building with Al - through personal projects, a starter role, or experimenting with tools like Codex or Cursor
  • Understanding of basic ML and Al concepts like prompting, evaluation, embeddings and how models work
  • Intellectual curiosity and problem-solving instincts that drive you to figure things out
  • A genuine desire to learn fast and grow your skills in applied Al and agentic tooling
  • The ability to work collaboratively in an agile environment with product teams and multiple stakeholders
  • Exposure to Databricks, Azure Al services or similar cloud Al platforms beneficial
  • Experience with agent frameworks, RAG patterns or orchestration tools beneficial
  • Knowledge of data platforms like SQL or Spark and how Al integrates with them beneficial
  • Engineering experience in software, data or ML with real-world delivery in a team setting
  • Working proficiency in Python and writing production-quality code
  • Familiarity with APIs, services and modern development practices like version control and testing
  • Early evidence of Al or LLM work through personal projects, a starter Al role, or building tools using Codex,Cursor, OpenAl APIs or similar
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Al/ML, or equivalent experience
