Job summary

Moody's Investors Service seeks a player-coach engineering leader for the Strategy and Innovation team. You will embed with high-priority projects, mentor engineers, and maintain hands-on delivery across AI-powered services and platforming efforts.

You will guide architectural decisions, lead incidents, and promote responsible AI adoption while collaborating with product managers and tech leads to raise the technical bar across Moody's.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience leading or managing software engineers with coaching and career development.
• Hands-on at Tech Lead level with strong technical and people-management skills.
• Experience building AI/ML applications and taking them to production.
• Experience operating production distributed systems on AWS/Azure.
• Excellent communication and ability to translate technical topics for engineers and executives.
• Strong ownership, humility, and governance of AI adoption across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Embed in high-priority projects, guiding architectural decisions across AI-powered services and agent frameworks.
• Coach and manage engineers across squads, partnering with product managers and tech leads.
• Stay hands-on by contributing code, reviewing at a high bar, and leading incidents when needed.
• Challenge technical decisions and help engineers navigate complexity and risk.
• Support engineers' growth through one-on-ones and career development discussions.
• Drive cross-team alignment and adoption of engineering best practices and reliability standards.
• Build trust with stakeholders by clear communication and surfacing risks early.
