Job summary

BT Group leads innovative research in AI-driven telecommunications, focusing on applying AI/ML to optimize mobile networks and customer experiences. You will design and deploy next-generation AI capabilities across BT's network operations, tackle complex challenges, and shape the future of network strategy in a hybrid work setting.

The role includes managing research projects, acting as a domain expert, and guiding graduate placements while contributing to IP creation and publication efforts

Qualifications

• Experience in AI/ML research applied to network operations.
• Proven ability to publish technical papers and present to peers.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in patenting and IP creation is desirable.
• Ability to conduct horizon scanning and concept evaluation.
• Supervisory/mentoring experience with graduate students.

Responsibilities

• Manage research projects within Research and Network Strategy.
• Serve as domain expert for a technical area and share expertise across BT.
• Create and manage IP, patent filings and support IP exploitation where appropriate.
• Lead research in Sustainable Network Optimisation for high impact outcomes.
• Author technical papers and participate in conferences.
