Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to learn quickly across problem spaces and methods.
• Ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong programming skills and good documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Research and build AI/ML systems for synthetic biology, genome design, and molecular evolution.
• Lead and contribute to collaborations with MLEng team, researchers, and external partners.
• Co-create computational solutions with GBI scientists and scope new research avenues.
• Provide expert computational biology knowhow to researchers and guide projects.
• Interface with Bioinformatics and Compute platforms to support data flows and MLOps.
• Ensure robust, reproducible training pipelines and versioned data/models.
• Contribute to publications in prestigious venues.
• Organise work to meet multiple deadlines with high standards.
