The role blends exploratory research with practical prototypes, driving technologies that may influence Huawei Cloud, GaussDB, and AI data infrastructure for future data platforms.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong background in internals of computer systems, databases, AI, distributed systems, OS, or related areas.
• Solid understanding of database principles: query processing, storage engines, indexing, transactions, concurrency control, or distributed data management.
• Hands-on experience in system design, implementation, evaluation, and performance debugging.
• Proficiency in system-level languages (C, C++, Rust, Go).
• Ability to conduct empirical systems research with workload analysis, benchmarking, and performance interpretation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate core components of next-generation database and data management systems.
• Prototype advanced query planning and execution techniques for transactional, analytical, and AI workloads.
• Develop storage and indexing mechanisms for structured and AI-oriented data; optimise memory hierarchies.
