Job summary

RELX (ElsevierJobs) is seeking a Data Science Leader to define and lead AI and data science strategy across ML, NLP, search, and generative AI. You will guide teams through the full lifecycle, aligning work to product goals and customer needs, while influencing senior stakeholders.

You will lead high-performing teams, foster scientific rigor, and drive measurable outcomes across the organization, delivering advanced AI systems at scale.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in data science, AI/ML, NLP, or related quantitative field.
• Strong technical expertise across modern data science methods and production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience delivering AI-powered products including LLMs, RAG, and semantic search.
• Proven success leading technical teams in complex product or research environments.
• Experience with large, complex datasets and scalable AI/ML systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; turning ambiguity into strategy.

Responsibilities

• Set AI and data science strategy across ML, NLP, search, and generative AI.
• Lead and develop high-performing teams with coaching and inclusive culture.
• Deliver AI and knowledge-discovery systems across full lifecycle from experimentation to production.
• Drive AI quality with metrics, experimentation practices, and responsible AI standards.
• Influence product, tech, and business by shaping roadmaps and translating insights.
