Job summary

Plumpton College is seeking an Agriculture Lecturer to deliver programmes from Level 2 through to higher levels, drawing on UK agriculture experience. You'll plan, deliver practical and theory lessons, assess learners, track progress and work with employers to prepare learners for careers.

Full-time or part-time with training provided. Relocation support available; a competitive salary between £32,000 and £36,000 with potential progression and a 6k welcome bonus; Teachers' Pension and 37 days

Qualifications

  • Experience in UK agriculture, farming or rural sector.
  • Background in farm management, livestock, arable, soil science or related areas.
  • Teaching experience is desirable but not essential; in-house teacher training offered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to learner development and safeguarding.

With a 900‑hectare estate, commercial livestock, arable and dairy enterprises, and programmes ranging from Level 2 through to BSc Honours level, this is an excellent environment for someone passionate about agriculture and learner development.

As an Agriculture Lecturer, you'll plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across a range of Agriculture programmes. You'll assess learner work, track progress, provide constructive feedback, support tutorials, contribute to quality improvement, and work closely with employers and stakeholders to ensure learners are prepared for successful careers within the industry.

The ideal candidate will have experience within UK agriculture, farming, or the wider rural sector. You may have a background in farm management, livestock, arable, soil science, agri‑tech, sustainability, animal science, agricultural consultancy, or a related area. Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential, as full in‑house teacher training, structured induction, coaching and CPD can be provided.

The role:

  • Full‑time or part‑time considered, from two days per week.
  • Full teacher training, structured induction, CPD and coaching support provided.
The person:
  • UK agriculture, farming or rural industry experience.
  • Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong subject knowledge across areas such as farm management, livestock, arable, soil science, agri‑tech, sustainability, animal science or agricultural consultancy.
  • Passionate about supporting and developing learners.
  • Teaching experience desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality and student success.
  • Flexible around full‑time or part‑time working.
  • Based within a commutable distance of Plumpton, or open to relocation support.
  • Looking for a long‑term opportunity within land‑based education.
