Job summary

Oakfields Ag in Thaxted, Essex, is seeking an experienced Agricultural Workshop Engineer or Mechanic for a full-time role in our workshop. The successful candidate will diagnose faults, plan repairs, and service a wide range of tractors and farm machinery, with a focus on practical, cost-effective solutions.

The role offers a salary of £45,000–£60,000 per year depending on experience, 7:00am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with no harvest call-outs and no regular overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience as an agricultural engineer or mechanic.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of agricultural machinery.
• Ability to diagnose problems and perform practical repairs.
• Comfortable working independently and in a workshop team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults on tractors and farm machinery and determine practical repairs.
• Carry out mechanical, hydraulic, electrical repairs and welding as needed.
• Work independently and as part of the workshop team to fix and prepare machines.
• Prepare repaired machines for sale and ensure they are roadworthy and sale-ready.
