Job Title:Agricultural Market Analyst

The Role

Thisisanexcitingopportunitytojoinanexpandingteam,inapivotalrole,analysingdataand providing insights into the agricultural industry. The successful candidate will be skilled in handling and interpreting data and in preparing official reports and outputs for the media.

LMC are at the heart of what farmers and processors are doing and you will play a key role in delivering services that are user-centred, and data driven. You will support the wider team, working together to provide data solutions to key questions. Your expertise will support the development of mandatory price reporting and other market intelligence insights. You will help to shape the digital services we provide, ensuring the department meets delivery targets, responds to policy changes and embraces new technology.

  • Engagewithgovernmentdepartmentsandagencies,otherlevybodies,collegesand research establishments and other relevant organisations to understand their work relatingtothebeef&sheepmeatsectorand,whererelevant,tocomplementthose activities.
  • Toparticipateinagriculturalevents,showsandmeetingsofvariousstakeholder groups, to understand their views and to discuss LMC strategies and research.
  • TobeaspokespersonforLMC,includingpreparingandpresentingdata-driven intelligence to stakeholders
  • Undertakebroadcasts,interviewsandwritingpressarticlesasrequired.
  • TocommunicatetheroleofLMCanditsactivitiestoitslevypayersincluding presentations to stakeholders.

  • DeputisefortheHeadofMarketIntelligenceandDataManagementDepartmentwhen requested to do so.
  • Maintainanddevelopdatabases,includingdataentry,compilationandadministration
  • Contributetothedevelopmentofmarketintelligenceservicesincludingsupportingthe team in the development of existing and new datasets and dashboards
  • Assist in the analysis of industry trends and market developments, supporting the team in interpreting market insight research and communicating information to relevant stakeholders

Internal and External Relationships

TheAgriculturalMarketAnalystwillworkinconjunctionwiththeHeadofMarketIntelligence and Data Management, and within the Market Intelligence team.

Internal stakeholders include members of the Board, Senior Management Team, professional, clerical and other LMC staff. External stakeholders include producers, processors and marts, DAERA, media and others.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2nd Class Honours degree which included data analysis. Related degrees could include agricultural science, science, mathematics, or economics. Details of the analytical content of a degree should be evidenced in Essential Criterion 1 of the application form
