Responsibilities

  • Support management systems maintenance.

Job description
Overview

Reporting to the Head of Aggregates, the jobholder will have responsibility for the technical support required by the Aggregate Sales Team. The individual will work closely with the sales team to help place the material into suitable applications in the construction market. They will anticipate and respond to the technical requests/needs of prospective and current customers and will supply the information as required. The role will assist in identifying improvements to our products and will work with the operations and technical teams to help evaluate, develop and trial these as directed by the Head of Aggregates. In the event of a customer complaint, the incumbent will play a central role in bringing all departments together to investigate, identify root cause and agree actions to resolve the complaint, as well as communicate findings to all interested parties. The jobholder will coordinate any external testing of aggregates and maintain a strong relationship with 3rd party labs. Supported by the Aggregates Team, the jobholder may represent the business at various industry events including technical seminars etc. The jobholder will be expected to maintain awareness of any industry changes that may represent opportunities or challenges to the business in relation to asphalt, concrete, civils etc.

Key duties
  • Attend existing and new customer meetings in support of the Aggregates Team
  • Assist in developing and testing new or improved products
  • Develop and maintain a full working knowledge of the relevant aggregate standards for each of the applications O.C.O supply into or would like to supply into
  • Assessing compliance of product to existing/new standards/specifications
  • Act as a liaison between the Aggregates, Sites and Laboratory teams.
  • Data entry and collation and presentation of results including production of monthly data sheets for the full range of products
  • Assist in performing root cause analysis on potential non-conformance of materials on customer sites
  • Attend industry association committee meetings e.g. MPA, CBA, BAA etc.
  • Production of reports as required by the Head of Aggregates
  • Ensure full compliance with all Company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Health and Safety and Employment.
  • Fully support and contribute to the upkeep of our management systems (CMS, ISO6001, 9001,14001 and 45001)
  • Any other duties, such as ad hoc projects, as requested by the Head of Aggregates, that are within the skills and capabilities of the jobholder (lab work may be included)
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of aggregate applications (aggregate, asphalt, and concrete etc.)
  • Knowledge of highways specifications
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise various tasks at one time
  • Ability to effectively manage own time
  • Experience using Word and Excel
  • Good communication skills at all levels – both written and oral
  • A hands-on approach to achieving tasks set
  • Able to be innovative and work under their own initiative and alongside others
