Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space Limited in the UK runs a two-year Global Graduate programme for Satellite AIT Electrical Engineer, starting September 2027. You will rotate through the Satellite Assembly Integration and Test area and gain hands-on experience across subsystems while developing leadership potential.

You will learn to code and script in C, Java and bash, perform measurements and anomaly investigations, and contribute to environmental testing and launch-site activities as part of a global

What you will be doing
  • You will gain experience of all the spacecraft subsystems and will get a detailed overview of the Satellite Assembly Integration and Test department.
  • Examples of the ESA missions we have built, tested and launched the flight spacecraft for are Solar Orbiter, BIOMASS and the ExoMars Rover.
  • Another example of a project we are working on is to provide secure space communications for the UK Government.
  • The tasks will be varied and require you to use different skills (electrical measurements, script writing and debugging, anomaly investigation, documenting test results, preparing presentations, communication etc.).
  • As well as scripting, we use Java and C based languages.
  • As a Graduate, you will learn about spacecraft subsystem integration, functional and system testing, anomaly investigations, and initial test result analysis;
  • as well as environmental testing and supporting spacecraft interface checks at the launch site.
  • There will be opportunities to develop both electrical engineering and software skills within Satellite Assembly Integration and Test (AIT).
  • Our organisation supports environmental test campaigns and spacecraft launches, which involve overseas travel.
  • Your development journey will include a minimum of one rotational placement to support your growth into position.
  • At the end of the two year development programme you will have developed into the position of Satellite AIT Electrical Engineer.
What we are looking for

To be a successful applicant, you will need to demonstrate you have:

  • A degree level or equivalent within Electronics, Electrical Systems, Avionics, Space or similar Engineering degree.
  • Recently graduated or first professional experience in the field of engineering
  • Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)
  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation
  • The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development.
Specific experience or interests
  • High level of practical hands‑on application of engineering.
  • Good knowledge of programming and scripting in a variety of languages (C, Java, bash scripting etc.)
  • Positive and proactive with a `can do’ attitude and a reliable team player.
  • Able to produce clear and accurate documentation and reporting.
  • The ability to listen, understand and communicate information.
  • The desire to work in a technical team environment.
  • Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Able to make evidence‑based decisions.
  • The desire to work in an open and trusting environment.
