Job summary

Freedom Care Group is seeking a Support Worker in Ferndown for three weekday afternoon sessions (term time) and holiday coverage. You will work with the same child, building trust and understanding his routines and communication needs.

During sessions you will work in a 2:1 staffing model, receive full training and shadow shifts, and help with personal care, medication support, and safety around water given the pool setting.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience supporting children and young people with neurodiverse needs including autism, ADHD, PDA or learning disabilities.
• Experience supporting children with complex needs and behaviours of concern.
• Comfort with personal care tasks and medication support or willingness to train.
• A caring, reliable and resilient approach with ability to build positive relationships with the child and family.
• Good communication skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Willingness to complete mandatory training, Enhanced DBS check and DBS Update Service registration.
• A Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification preferred but not essential; UK driving licence helpful.

Responsibilities

• Support the same child over time, learning his personality, routines, needs and communication.
• Work in a 2:1 staffing model with another support worker.
• Receive full training and shadow shifts before undertaking tasks.
• Support personal care and medication as needed.
• Assist with routines during term time and school holidays.
• Promote safety, including water-related activities given the specialist pool.
