Overview

We are hiring Young People & Children Support Workers in Llanelli to work evenings supporting individuals within the community. Regular evening work, tell us the days you can work! Part time hours available. Flexible shifts from 2 to 6 hours. This rewarding role focuses on evening shifts, offering you the chance to provide consistent support to children and young people after school, helping them develop and thrive within their communities. Depending on your availability you could support from one young person a week up to six or seven. A full driving licence, access to a car and business use is required for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Support individuals to access and engage in community activities and services.
  • Help individuals participate in hobbies, interests, or recreational activities that enhance their quality of life.
  • Assist individuals in working towards personal goals through tailored support plans.
  • Encourage development and learning through activities; for children, this may include play-based learning.
  • Offer personal care and day-to-day assistance where required.
  • Provide a compassionate and safe approach to ensure individuals feel respected and supported.
  • Support is for evening and weekend staff.
  • Provide tailored support to children and adults, recognizing their unique pathways and needs.
  • Advocate for children’s and adults’ best interests, ensuring their voices are included in planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of services.
  • Develop and implement person-centered plans focused on goal setting and outcome monitoring.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to maximize delivery and individual success.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes inclusion and active participation of children and adults.
  • Ensure seamless communication and coordination among all involved agencies.
  • Take children and adults out into the community and attend social events to enhance social skills and integration.
  • Create opportunities for children and adults to participate in community groups and activities across various localities.
  • Utilise community assets and resources to promote personalized and outcome-focused activities.
  • Training to meet the unique needs of children and young people, particularly those exposed to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
  • Develop and implement clear communication plans to support children in expressing their views and wishes.
  • Document and adhere to guidance from professionals within personal plans, ensuring responsiveness to indicators of discomfort or distress in children.
  • Provide personal care, including medication administration, meal preparation, and moving and handling tasks (including the use of hoists, steadies, and wheelchairs).
  • Manage challenging behaviours effectively and empathetically.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of children's rights with experience in advocating for children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and community groups.
  • Strong crisis management skills and flexibility in providing support.
  • Familiarity with community assets and capacity-building.
  • Specialised training in supporting children exposed to ACEs and the NEST framework.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of children and adults.
Additional Requirements
  • Must undergo and maintain relevant certifications and training.
  • Full UK driving license and own vehicle with the ability to travel within the locality as required.
  • Understand that, although the role is predominantly support, it may involve personal care and manual handling when required.
