Job summary

Safran Electrical & Power in the UK is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to guide materials and processes, support R&D/RT projects, and improve reliability and cost‑effectiveness in future motor and generator designs.

You will work with suppliers and customers to ensure safe‑to‑fly products, perform in‑depth material investigations, define root causes, and coach graduates, with a focus on metallurgical science, joining technologies, NDT and technical reporting.

Qualifications

  • In-depth material investigations and root cause analysis focus.
  • Experience with joining technologies and testing protocols.
  • Aerospace experience desirable and advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Act as focal point for issues related to materials and processes and conduct investigations.
  • Diagnose production problems and advise on analyses or approaches for new designs.
  • Improve reliability and cost effectiveness in future motor and generator designs.
  • Participate in customer briefings and design reviews to ensure high quality.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to ensure safe-to-fly products.
  • Maintain and update material and process specifications with latest tech.
  • Coach graduates or less experienced engineers.
