Job summary

GKN Aerospace at Filton is seeking qualified fitters to operate as multi-skilled, flexible workers for our wing assemblies and metal components. You will work with hand and machine tools, ensuring production to right first time, with SAP phase clearance and adherence to GKNAF procedures.

The role requires an indentured apprenticeship (level 3) and export control understanding, with Desirable Lean manufacturing knowledge to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Essential: Must have a recognised indentured apprenticeship (level 3). Export Control understanding and regulatory requirements. Ability to work to standard operating procedures.
• Desirable: Previous manufacturing experience in an aircraft production environment.
• Desirable: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Ensure parts are produced on a right first time basis
• Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
• Responsible for timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
• Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
• Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
• Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
• To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
