Job summary

Advanced Resource Managers Ltd is seeking an Electrical Assembly Technician for a permanent position in Ampthill. You will work with a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company, contributing to the assembly and testing of cable harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies.

The role requires hands-on experience with crimping, soldering and harness wiring, and familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001 standards. A strong eye for quality and traceability is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in cable harness assembly, wiring looms, or electro-mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and build instructions.
• Hands-on skills in crimping, soldering, cable preparation and connector assembly.
• Awareness of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001 standards.
• Experience in military and defence manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, terminate, and inspect cable harnesses, wiring looms, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Perform wire preparation including crimping, soldering, and connector assembly.
• Install heat shrink, backshells, strain relief, shielding, and markers per build docs.
• Conduct in-process self-inspection and quality verification.
• Carry out electrical testing including continuity and functional tests.
• Maintain traceability and complete manufacturing and quality records.
• Identify non-conformances and support corrective actions; follow safety standards.
