A nonprofit organization in Milton Keynes is seeking an Advocacy Caseworker to provide vital support to individuals with spinal cord injuries. The role entails managing social care and CHC casework, improving service provisions, and collaborating with various stakeholders. Ideal candidates will possess at least one year of relevant experience and a strong understanding of social policy issues. The Advocacy Caseworker will be responsible for providing Social Care and CHC casework and support to SCI people for a wide range of issues relating to their health care and independent living. Working with SIA teams and external partners and agencies they will also be responsible for improving the provision of services to SCI people. The data and case studies they collate will be central to both the work of the Campaigns and Fundraising teams and the wider SIA communications. This information will also assist with service and organisational development, identifying new trends and areas of unmet need.
The successful candidate will have at least one year's experience of CHC and/or social care work, Experience of working with government bodies such as social workers, NHS etc, A good understanding of relevant social policy, welfare rights, health and social care issues that affect people living with disabilities, in particular those with spinal cord injuries. They will have the ability to cope with challenging or emotional enquiries and enquirers, be able to prioritise a busy workload and be able to explain complex information in an accessible way.
