About the Role

Are you an AFP operator who is passionate about tackling complex engineering challenges and advancing technical innovation? As an Advanced Technician, you'll play a vital role in solving practical engineering tasks, from maintenance and process improvement to mentoring future talent. You'll work across both simple and intricate technical contexts, contributing to cutting‑edge developments in your field.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll collaborate with various stakeholders to advise on technical principles, enhance maintenance protocols, and refine engineering practices. Safety is a key focus, and you'll lead by example, promoting best practices and proactive risk management, writing and reviewing risk assessments and maintaining standards around the workshop. If you thrive on solving technical challenges, guiding teams, and driving innovation, this role offers the perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise and make a tangible impact.

Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise: Proven ability to analyse and improve engineering processes and methods in complex and non‑complex contexts.
  • Problem‑Solving Skills: Strong diagnostic skills to identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Safety Leadership: Experience of promoting and implementing safe working practices and conducting risk assessments. Experience working with, and supporting, junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Innovation Mindset: Demonstrable ability to contribute to the development of new technologies, methods, or processes.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in documenting technical outcomes and conveying complex information clearly to diverse audiences. Experience dealing with contractors, inter‑departmental communication.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient with Microsoft Office software and experience using it in a workplace setting.
  • Flexibility: Able to work on and off shifts, able to move working hours to suit project needs.
  • Automated Fibre Placement: AFP operator experience is required.
