Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Oxford is seeking a compassionate Rehabilitation Assistant to support stroke patients in their homes. The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist rehabilitation. Overview

A vacancy at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The ESD for stroke team is a community team, dedicated to helping stroke patients return home from hospital sooner by providing high‑quality, specialist stroke rehabilitation in the home environment, to achieve our patients' individual goals.

We are looking for a professional, caring and compassionate rehabilitation assistant to support the provision of specialist stroke rehabilitation in the community.

You are motivated, flexible and will work autonomously; supporting the team in delivering therapy as directed by qualified members of the team. You will ideally have some experience of working within the NHS and providing therapy or care to patients. We would encourage applicants to contact the department to discuss the role further.

Drive to patients' homes within the county of Oxfordshire; access to a car is essential and a valid licence is required. Please state that you meet this requirement when applying.

Responsibilities
  • Support the provision of specialist stroke rehabilitation in the community.
  • Deliver therapy as directed by qualified members of the team.
  • Work a 6‑day service, including rotating weekends on a rota basis.
  • Assist with administrative duties: organising equipment and uploading data to trust‑approved IT systems.
  • Assist the ESD team with duties delegated by occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech & language therapists and nurses.
  • Record evaluation of care and interventions undertaken in patients’ records.
  • Order, clean and maintain rehabilitation equipment.
  • Communicate with suppliers.
  • Work autonomously while being accountable to a registered practitioner.
  • Deliver interventions in a timely, responsive manner and maintain effective team working.

Other duties

The post holder will also input data onto IT systems, record appropriate evaluation of the care and interventions undertaken in patients’ records, order, clean and maintain rehabilitation equipment, and communicate with suppliers.
