Overview

We have an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Sonographers to join a vibrant, friendly, supportive team providing a wide range of ultrasound examinations. We are looking for candidates with experience in obstetrics, gynaecology, general and MSK ultrasound. Part time or flexible working is considered.

To work as a clinical sonographer delivering a high quality ultrasound service within 7 day working. To be an effective member of the Department of Radiology providing a high standard of imaging and patient care, managing your own lists, performing and reporting a range of ultrasound examinations, participating in audit and supporting trainee sonographers.

Job Summary
  • Perform a range of obstetric and/or non-obstetric ultrasound examinations.
  • Produce high quality ultrasound reports under the delegation of the lead radiologist for Ultrasound and in accordance with accepted practice and protocols within the Obstetrics Department.
  • Contribute to providing a high quality and efficient ultrasound service.
  • Maintain the high standards of the department by contributing to individual and team objectives.
  • Supervise students working within the department.
Purpose of Job
  • Undertake duties as a Specialist Sonographer.
  • Perform a range of ultrasound examinations and produce high quality reports in accordance with accepted practice and protocols within the Radiology Department.
  • Ensure the quality of work is audited at all stages and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Maintain the high standards of the department by contributing to individual and team objectives.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Service Delivery and Quality

  • Maintain good communication and relationships with patients and other service users.
  • Communicate results and findings to patients and relatives.
  • Obtain verbal consent from patients or carers before undertaking any ultrasound procedure.
  • Undertake audit to ensure the service – clinical and non-clinical – meets quality standards.

Personnel & Training

  • Maintain CPD and own level of competence.
  • Supervise trainee Sonographers, Consultants and SPRs in O&G, and support delivery of the training programme and assessment.
  • Induct and train new staff and supervise student radiographers and trainee specialist radiographers - ultrasound.

Investors in People

  • Brief staff on Trust objectives and plans; set objectives and identify training needs; ensure annual appraisals.
  • Induct new staff and review outcomes of training with staff.
