General Medical Sonographer

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and professional individual to join an established team of Advanced Practitioners. You must have excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to working, with a commitment to providing an efficient and quality ultrasound service.

We are looking for an autonomous practitioner who can independently scan and report a range of diagnostic ultrasound scans in line with National , Trust and Department protocols.

We are a large, modern department with a range of newly installed equipment.

We are a fast paced, dynamic and vibrant service with an interesting and challenging case load.

Main duties of the job

You will work across a range of centres including o ur main site Royal Stoke University Hospital a Major trauma Cent re, County Hospital Stafford, Stoke on Trent C ommunity Diagnostic Centre and Haywood Community Hospital.

As part of a rotational team of g eneral medical sonographers support ing our busy acute in-patient and emergency portals 7 days a week , your scan remit will include abdominal, gynaecological , DVT and testi cular examinations.

You will also support delivery of our GP and outpatient general ultrasound services across all sites , working alongside a supporti ve team of lead subspeciality sonographers , who se remit encompass es diagnostic vascular, head & neck, paediatric and MSK ultrasound.

We are a training centre with all sonographers contributing to the train ing framework for trainees from the start to transition into advanced practice.

The Trusts Obstetric Ultrasound Service is provided by Maternity, Neonatal & Gynaecology services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You should hold a CASE accredited P ost Graduate Qualification in General Medical Ultrasoun d and be an autonomous practitioner with experience of independently scanning and reporting a broad range of examinations in line with National, Trust and Local policies and procedures.

A pplications will be considered from newly qualified practitioners or practitioners who do not yet meet the full scope of practice required .

Ac credited scientists with a ppropriate registration eg HCPC / NMC/ CSVS / RCT will also be considered.
