Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking an Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist to lead high‑risk casework and shape service delivery within the Reablement Service. You will supervise staff, provide expert advice, and promote innovative Occupational Therapy practices to improve independence and wellbeing.

The role requires HCPC registration, strong problem-solving, and a commitment to our values. Travel across Hampshire and a market supplement are included.

Qualifications

  • Occupational Therapy qualification and HCPC registration required.
  • Knowledge of statutory duties of local government in social care.
  • Experience supervising staff and developing practitioners’ learning.
  • Significant experience in assessment, planning and reviewing case work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate challenging situations.
  • Commitment to shared values and behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex casework: assess, plan, review high-risk cases and deliver person-centred interventions.
  • Provide expert advice and training to Occupational Therapists, especially in high-risk cases.
  • Champion Occupational Therapy and innovate service delivery.
  • Promote teamwork with practitioners, carers, support staff to improve outcomes.
  • Ensure safeguarding and professional standards compliance.

The Role:

Joiningourmotivated, supportiveteam as anAdvanced Practitioner,you’llbean experienced andqualifiedOccupational Therapistwith HCPC registration.You’lllead complex casework, support staff development, and contribute to innovative service delivery that promotes independence and wellbeing.You’llmodel best practice, lead on high-risk and complex cases, and play a key role inourmulti-disciplinaryReablement Service.You’llbe instrumental in shaping occupational therapy practice and supporting the professional growth ofour practitioners.

What you’ll do:
  • Leadcomplex casework:Assess, plan, and review high-risk cases. Deliver person-centred interventions to help individualsmaintainor regain independence in daily life.
  • Provide expert advice & training:Support and superviseOccupational Therapists, particularly in high-risk or challenging cases. Provide expert advice and advocacy to individuals and communities.
  • Champion Occupational Therapy:Promote innovative approaches to occupational therapy and service delivery.
  • Promote teamwork:Work closely with Occupational Therapists, practitioners, carers, sensorystaffand support teams to improve service delivery and outcomes.
  • Quality of care:Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and professional standards,informed by social care legislation and clinical knowledge.
What we’re looking for:
  • Occupational Therapy qualification and professional registration with HCPC.
  • Strong understanding of the statutory duties of local government in social care and the social care model.
  • Experience of supervising staffwith astrongcommitmenttosharingknowledge,developingpractitioners’ learning and professional growthand supporting with high-risk cases.
  • Significantexperiencein assessment, planning and reviewing of case work.
  • Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognise problems,identifysolutions and negotiate inchallenging situations.
