Job description
Position Overview

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is looking for an experienced, dynamic, and self‑motivated Pharmacist to join the team as Advanced Pharmacist Medicines Optimisation and Governance.

Responsibilities
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders in health and care to deliver pharmacy and medicines optimisation projects.
  • Lead the Medicines Management Committee to ensure the work plan is delivered efficiently and medicines management policies, guidelines and protocols are reviewed, updated and monitored.
  • Serve as the pharmacy lead for Patient Group Directions (PGDs), ensuring national standards and NICE guidance are met.
  • Lead medicine‑related audits, including POMH, national audits and internal trust audits, and act as the AMaT superuser for the pharmacy department.
  • Deliver medicines management related projects to advance the medicines management strategy and optimisation agenda.
Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered with GPhC as a Pharmacist.
  • Evident recent continuing professional development.
  • MPharm degree or equivalent pharmacy qualification.
  • Post‑graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Essential Experience

  • Post‑registration experience within the NHS care setting.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis and report writing, including analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring and tutoring.
  • Effective communication and relationship‑building at all levels.
  • Understanding of medicines management processes and experience developing and implementing policies.
  • Experience planning, implementing, analysing, reporting and changing practice through audit.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of current national quality and patient safety improvement priorities relevant to medicines.
  • Management qualification relevant to the NHS.
  • Experience in a variety of settings (primary care, secondary, community, health and justice) and/or a leadership role.
