You will report directly to the Advanced Operations Director Continence Care, and you will be responsible for the delivery of innovative manufacturing process automation solutions conforming to agreed project timelines and budgetary projections. You will work in partnership with R&D teams, and you will be responsible to specify and deliver equipment capable of manufacturing New Product Designs to the highest safety, quality and efficiency in a cost-effective manner, ensuring full compliance with both Convatec procedures, local laws and policies. You will work with other Project managers within the Advanced Operations Team and key functions across all operational networks to ensure effective group planning, execution, and reporting. You will be comfortable leading and delivering projects with full transparency, detailed regular reporting on status, financials, and actions to all stakeholders within the designated operations network ensuring processes and products are delivered to the highest quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Project lead on all assigned projects and single point of contact with stakeholders and equipment/service vendors.
- Formulation and writing of the following documents:
- URS documentation to fully reflect the system/equipment requirements of the project.
- Capital Acquisition Requests documentation including budgetary forecasting spreadsheets.
- Detailed Project Timeline Plans.
- Equipment/system/process FAT/SAT/IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and reports.
- Compile and deliver regular updates on all assigned projects to all stakeholders/end users.
- Manage and accurately report on project budgetary matters.
- Control vendor stage payments and obtain evidence prior to authorising payment.
- Review Design for Manufacturing (DFM) inputs from R&D and provide Design for Assembly (DFA) inputs to the R&D teams throughout the product design cycle.
- Manage POP trials and their execution as required.
- Deliver a strong customer service focus and create lasting relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Deliver technical and commercial evaluation and approval of vendor proposals for equipment and technology.
- Deliver results: consistently deliver high‑quality work so colleagues and customers can rely on the team.
- Improve care: proactively learn about and listen to those we serve to help meet their current and future needs.
Qualifications
- Proficient in the use (speaking) and understanding (reading and writing) of the English language.
- Demonstrable experience working with R&D teams in delivering automated manufacturing equipment solutions for new products.
- Demonstrable experience as a project manager within a highly automated manufacturing environment, identifying and implementing Industry 4.0 compatible manufacturing technology solutions.
- Significant experience working as a project manager with automated conversion, lamination, joining, assembly, inspection, packaging and labelling processes.
- Experience in the introduction of AGV’s, material handling systems and automated packaging equipment for primary, secondary and tertiary products.
- Full understanding of the project life cycle, with experience in all aspects and deliverables from concept justification to URS/RFP/POP/FAT/SAT/IQ/OQ/PQ to handover.
- Excellent attention to detail, meticulous and thorough in all aspects of the project deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a scientific subject.
- Documented project management training and/or certificate (e.g., IPMA‑C/B, Prince2, PMP) is preferable.

Work Location & Flexibility
- Home based (UK). The role requires flexibility (as required) to visit and work with engineering vendors for machine development, suppliers for material sourcing and Convatec manufacturing sites for machine installation/validation.
