Job summary

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is advertising an Advanced Nurse Practitioner post in the Older Adult Inpatient Team for the Julian Hospital. The role covers five wards with duties including advanced assessments, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care for older adults with complex mental health needs.

You will provide clinical leadership, prescribe where appropriate, and support the development of advanced nursing practice in older adult mental health.

Qualifications

• RMN with post-registration specialty in mental health.
• Master's degree in a relevant subject.
• Independent prescribing qualification.
• Recognised teaching or assessing qualification.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation for older adults on inpatient mental health wards.
• Take histories, complete physical and mental health assessments and develop person-centred care plans.
• Make expert clinical decisions and use advanced diagnostic skills for complex mental and physical health needs.
• Work with multidisciplinary and medical teams to deliver safe, effective, high-quality care.
• Prescribe and monitor medications and treatment plans within registration, competence and Trust policy.
• Provide clinical leadership, support and professional guidance to nursing staff and the wider team.
• Apply evidence-based practice and contribute to service development and quality improvement.
• Take part in ward reviews, risk management and safeguarding processes.
• Promote recovery-focused care, with service users and carers involved in care planning.
• Keep accurate, timely clinical documentation to professional and organisational standards.
• Contribute to staff education, supervision and the development of advanced nursing practice.
