Role Overview

Manage and care for women attending the Colposcopy Service, overseeing the national screening programme, quality assurance and staff development in line with BSCCP guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate nursing activities within the Colposcopy Service.
  • Save and maintain quality of the national screening programme, contributing to quality assurance processes.
  • Develop and manage staff working within the service, ensuring compliance with BSCCP guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team – attend monthly Colposcopy MDT meetings, Quarterly Plymouth and Cornwall Board meetings, South Colposcopy Leads meetings and key meetings of the Colposcopy and Cervical Screening Business Group.
  • Ensure resources are managed efficiently – equipment, health and safety within the Colposcopy areas and completion of data‑entry audits.
  • Take a relevant history, perform a holistic physical and mental health examination, establish a management plan and evaluate progress within the scope of practice.
  • Assist the Specialty Manager in providing cover for doctor‑led clinic service.
  • Support the Lead Colposcopist in adhering to national standards and implementing changes; ensure accurate acquisition and validation of data for quarterly and annual performance information and mandatory KC65 returns.

  • Experience as an autonomous practitioner with specialist knowledge of colposcopy.
  • Ability to coordinate nursing activities and manage resources efficiently.
