Job summary

Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Frailty)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our excellent and expanding Frailty team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

As the population ages there are increasing numbers of older people living with frailty who are presenting to ED departments. It is recognised that targeting this high risk group as early as possible during admission provides an opportunity to improve quality of care and optimise patient and service outcomes for a vulnerable population.

The role involves working in our Acute Frailty Unit (UFU), SDEC as well as the development of rapid access and ambulatory clinics.

Excellent and advanced clinical knowledge of caring for those identified as frail is essential with the determination and drive to make a difference.

Our ANPs are highly valued and are well supported by the medical and senior nursing team and there will be opportunities for gaining skills and further development within the role.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will work alongside the ward based medical doctors, undertaken duties appropriate to their level of experience and competence, with the ultimate aim of creating highly skilled autonomous ANPs to promote high quality care, experience, outcomes and safe and effective discharge.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
  • The postholder will be a registered nurse with at least 5 years post registration experience
  • Have completed an MSc in Advanced practice
  • Have completed the non‑medical Prescriber's Course (V300)
  • Attained qualification in clinical examination and clinical diagnostics
Knowledge and Skills
  • Critically analyse research and apply robust evidence‑based information to clinical practice
  • Achieve competence in specific clinical skills under medical supervision
Other Requirements
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the multi‑disciplinary team
  • Provide evidence of and demonstrate clinical competencies acute medical management.
