Job description

Job Summary

Provide full support to Sonographers performing ultrasound scans for patients referred to the service. Undertake the care and reassurance of patients during scans, including acting as a chaperone for all ultrasound scans. Contribute to the smooth running of the Ultrasound Service and work closely with all other staff.

Main Duties

• Provide support to Sonographers performing ultrasound scans for patients referred to Physiological Measurements Ltd.
• Set up and tidy clinic rooms prior to clinic commencement.
• Enter patient details onto ultrasound machines accurately.
• Collect patients from the waiting room and escort them into the clinic.
• Explain preparatory requirements to patients and ensure correct positioning on the couch.
• Provide care and reassurance to patients undergoing scans, including chaperone duties.
• Adhere to patient confidentiality and Data Protection regulations.
• Transfer ultrasound machines across various geographical sites.
• Maintain clinic rooms according to specified clinical/IPC standards.
• Participate in IPC audits and site assessments.
• Contribute to clinical audits.
• Transport consumables between clinical locations.
• Perform clerical duties, including use of the Ipmc system.
• Transfer all patient images to CIMAR at the end of each clinic.
• Participate in training via e‑learning and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge.
• Take part in the appraisal system.
• Attend Advanced Imaging Assistant meetings.
• Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with Sonographers and Operations staff.
• Establish and maintain good communication with GP staff and manage any clinic setting issues.
• Willingness to undertake any additional tasks and duties delegated from time to time.
